ST5 Supertourer Finke Edition

The Patriot Campers ST5 Supertourer Finke Edition is a special edition of the 5.2 metre ST5, priced from $193,060. Patriot styles it on Australia's Finke Desert Race, with racing suspension, brakes and wheels, and a green and white livery. Like the ST5, it has an inside shower and composting toilet, 800 watts of solar and 460 amp-hours of lithium batteries.

What the Finke Edition adds

• Shocks: Fox Racing Remote Res 2.0 remote reservoir shocks with custom valving, on Patriot's Trinamic suspension.
• Brakes: Wilwood Engineering brakes with 285 millimetre rotors and black calipers.
• Wheels: bronze Method 703 17 inch beadgrip wheels, which let you run lower tyre pressures off-road.
• Tyres: 35 inch mud tyres, as Patriot lists them for this edition.
• Outside: a Patriot Racing green and white livery, carbon fibre decals and black canvas.
• Inside: black Alcantara trim, black benchtops, a bronze basin tap and carpet floor mats.
• Table: 5 millimetre carbon fibre, with a limited edition badge.

Patriot says the suspension has 250 millimetres of travel.

Inside

The main bed has a 100 millimetre pocket-spring mattress that measures 2,030 by 1,520 millimetres. The bathroom has a composting toilet and a basin. A patented double floor folds over the toilet to make a sealed shower floor, so the toilet stays dry while you shower.

Kitchen and storage

The kitchen has induction cooking and a slide-out pantry, and the fridge slide takes a dual-zone fridge of up to 95 litres. Patriot lists 2,150 litres of storage, including a 645 litre storage locker and a 110 litre front locker.

Power and water

• Solar: 800 watts.
• Batteries: 460 amp-hours of lithium, with up to two more 230 amp-hour batteries as an option.
• Charging: a 50 amp Redarc Manager Alpha, which charges from an Anderson plug on your tow vehicle.
• Fresh water: a 150 litre tank and a 40 litre tank.
• Grey water: a 45 litre tank.
• Warranty: five years, limited, on the chassis and structural components of every Patriot camper.

Optional extras

Patriot says options change the final cost.

• Comfort: Truma Saphir air conditioning with remote control, and a 24 inch TV on a swivel mount.
• Sleeping: a kids bunk, 670 by 1,600 millimetres, with a 50 millimetre mattress.
• Roof: a boat loader with a winch for boats up to 3.7 by 1.5 metres and 100kg, and an extra Exorack bar.
• Outdoors: a BBQ swing-away, a 270 degree batwing awning, a rear door multi-table, and a Maxtrax holder with a pair of boards.
• Suspension: machined billet lower control arms.
• Storage: a storage locker slide-out, a carpet kit and a lockable bottle holder.
• Extras: a GME XRS touring kit and a tyre inflation kit.

How big is it?

• Length: 5.2 metres.

What will tow it?

• ATM (aggregate trailer mass): 2,600kg, the most it can weigh fully loaded.
• Tare: 1,850kg, its empty weight as built.
• Payload: 750kg for water and gear. Full fresh water tanks use about 190kg of it.
• Ball weight: 152kg, which Patriot calls drawbar weight.

To tow it fully loaded, your vehicle needs a braked towing capacity of at least 2,600kg.
