East West 14SC Family

The SUV Caravans East West 14SC Family is a 6.35 metre off-road caravan that sleeps four, with bunks and a larger-than-queen bed. It adds a wall-mounted washing machine and a diesel heater to the East West layout.

Who does it sleep?

• Main bed: a larger-than-queen innerspring mattress, set east-west across the van.
• Kids: bunk beds.
• Bedside: tables with storage drawers.

Bathroom and laundry

The internal ensuite has a flush cartridge toilet and a separate shower cubicle. It has a wall-mounted washing machine, and hot and cold water runs to all sinks and showers.

Two kitchens

Inside, there is a kitchen sink and an induction cooktop, plus a microwave. Outside, the kitchen swings around 90 degrees, with a four-burner gas stove, a windguard and a drying rack. Pantry drawers and a stainless steel fold-down bench connect to it, with a slide for a 95 litre Trakmate fridge freezer.

Dust sealing and new items

• Duct tail: patent pending, and SUV Caravans designed it to seal out trail dust.
• Pressure: a positive pressure system.
• Step chassis: a new step-chassis, also patent pending.
• Rims: 17 inch gold alloy rims.
• Entry: an integrated double step.

Chassis and running gear

• Chassis: fully galvanised, with an Australian engineer approved chassis, drawbar and suspension.
• Suspension: Series 4 recovery suspension with galvanised swing arms, twin shocks and heavy-duty springs.
• Brakes: 12 inch electric brakes and a breakaway system.
• Tyres: 17 inch alloy rims on 265/70R17 all-terrain tyres, with a spare underneath.
• Hitch: a DO35 hitch.
• Recovery: two rear recovery points and a spare bolt-on stub axle.

Power, heating and water

• Power: roof-mounted solar and lithium batteries, with a 3000 watt Renogy inverter.
• Charging: a smart charger and a Renogy dual input DC-DC charger with a solar charge controller.
• Outlets: 240 volt outlets inside and out.
• Climate: roof-mounted reverse-cycle air conditioning and a diesel heater.
• Water: two fresh tanks of about 180 litres in total and a 70 litre grey tank, both monitored.
• Gas: integrated gas hot water and holders for two 4kg bottles.

Optional extras

• Annexe: enclosable, with a floor, walls, skirt and anti-flapper kit.
• Toilet: a composting toilet.
• Fridge: a 95 litre Trakmate fridge freezer.
• TV: a 12 volt smart TV.

What will tow it?

Its weights match the two-berth East West 14SC.

• ATM (aggregate trailer mass): 3,000kg fully loaded.
• Tare: 2,320kg empty.
• GTM (gross trailer mass): 2,833kg on its own wheels.
• Payload: 680kg for water, gas and gear. Full fresh water tanks use about 180kg of it.

To tow it fully loaded, your vehicle needs a braked towing capacity of at least 3,000kg. These weights are approximate, SUV Caravans says.

Warranty and where to buy

New SUV Caravans vans carry a 12-month warranty from delivery on defects in material and workmanship. The chassis adds a 5-year fatigue warranty from 2025 onwards.
