East West 14PT

The SUV Caravans East West 14PT is a 6.25 metre pop-top for two, pairing an electric roof with a larger-than-queen bed laid east-west. Payload is 800kg, and the roof closes down to 2.7 metres for travel.

Who does it sleep?

Two people, on a larger-than-queen innerspring mattress set east-west across the van. A dining seat with a removable table sits inside, with reading lamps and internal storage.

Roof and setting up

• Roof: electric roof lifters, 2.7 metres closed and 3.2 metres open.
• Awning: full-length and electric, with a manual override.
• Dust: a positive pressure system, a double lid seal and the patent-pending SUV roof airflow duct system.

Bathroom and kitchen

The internal ensuite has a flush cartridge toilet and a separate shower cubicle. Inside, you get a kitchen sink, an induction cooktop and a microwave. The outdoor kitchen swings around 90 degrees with a four-burner gas stove, a windguard and a drying rack. Its pantry drawers and fold-down stainless bench sit beside a slide for a 95 litre Trakmate fridge freezer.

Chassis and running gear

• Chassis: fully galvanised, with an Australian engineer approved chassis, drawbar and suspension.
• Suspension: Series 4 recovery suspension with galvanised swing arms, twin shocks and heavy-duty springs.
• Brakes: 12 inch electric brakes and a breakaway system.
• Wheels: 17 inch gold alloy rims on 265/70R17 all-terrain tyres, with a spare underneath.
• Hitch: a DO35 hitch.
• Recovery: two rear recovery points and a spare bolt-on stub axle.

Power, water and gas

• Solar: 400 watts.
• Batteries: 628 amp hours of lithium batteries.
• Inverter: a 3000 watt Renogy Rego, feeding 240 volt outlets inside and out.
• Charging: a smart charger and a Renogy dual input DC-DC charger with a solar charge controller.
• Water: about 180 litres fresh over two tanks and a 70 litre grey tank, both monitored.
• Gas: holders for two 4kg bottles and an integrated gas hot water system.
• Cooling: roof-mounted reverse-cycle air conditioning and 12 volt fans.

Outside, it has external storage compartments and a spot for a generator.

Optional extras

• Annexe: enclosable, with a floor, walls, skirt and anti-flapper kit.
• Spare: a rear-mounted spare tyre and bracket.
• Toilet: a composting toilet.
• Fridge: a 95 litre Trakmate fridge freezer.
• TV: a smart TV.

What will tow it?

• ATM (aggregate trailer mass): 3,000kg, its most fully loaded.
• Tare: 2,200kg, empty.
• GTM (gross trailer mass): 2,823kg, the most it can put on its own wheels.
• Payload: 800kg for water, gas and gear. Full fresh water tanks use about 180kg of it.

SUV Caravans treats all of these weights as approximate. To tow it fully loaded, your vehicle needs a braked towing capacity of at least 3,000kg.

Warranty and buying

• Warranty: 12 months from delivery on defects in material and workmanship.
• Chassis: 5-year fatigue cover, from 2025 onwards.
• Terms: new units only, non-transferable.
