About the Groundbreaker Ultimate Off-Road
The Groundbreaker Ultimate Off-Road is a Legend off-road caravan with a 48 volt electrical system and eight floorplans. It runs a 10.6kWh lithium battery and a Victron 5,000 watt inverter, with diesel hot water and heating. It rides on Cruisemaster ATX airbag suspension with a DO45 hitch, and the ATM runs from 3,500kg to 4,500kg.
Which floorplans are there?
- Floorplans: eight, with body lengths from 5,975mm to 7,195mm.
- Lounge: a club, cafe or L-shape lounge in 100% leather, with headrests.
- Headroom: a 1.96m ceiling, on a flat floor with no wheel arches inside.

- Bed: a lift up bed frame with an innerspring pillow top mattress.
- Ensuite: an OGO composting toilet, a wall mounted washer and towel rails.
- Climate: reverse cycle air conditioning, and a diesel hot water system combined with a heater.
- Entertainment: a 32 inch smart TV and a Fusion stereo with soundbar speakers.

- Cooking: a dual induction cooktop and a convection microwave oven.
- Fridge: a 224 litre two door fridge, plus a portable fridge in the toolbox.

- Chassis: a hot dipped galvanised Legend truss chassis with a 150mm extended A-frame.
- Suspension: Cruisemaster ATX airbags with a body control system, and M60 Unleashed shock absorbers.

- Hitch: a Cruisemaster DO45 off-road hitch rated to 4,500kg, with 4.5 tonne chains.
- Wheels: 16 inch wheels on 265/75/16 mud terrain tyres, with a spare on the rear bar.
- Frame: high tensile aluminium joined with Hanrob self piercing rivets, lock bolted to the chassis.
- Body: aluminium composite walls, a one piece insulated floor and a one piece fibreglass roof.
Off-road gear
- Recovery: rated recovery points, skid plates and recovery boards.
- Jack: a Blackjack electric jack, mounted permanently.
- Dust: a dust reduction unit.
- Plumbing: brass fittings on the hot and cold water lines, with stone protected outlets.
Power and water
- Battery: a 48 volt 10.6kWh lithium pack, made of three 3.6kWh modules.
- Inverter and charging: a Victron 5,000 watt inverter and a DC-DC charger with up to 120 amps input.
- Solar: 200 watt 48 volt panels, from 1,000 to 2,400 watts depending on size.
- Water: three 110 litre fresh tanks and a 110 litre grey tank.
What will tow it?
Legend lists a 3,500kg ATM (aggregate trailer mass) on floorplans 1 to 4, 4,000kg on floorplan 5 and 4,500kg on floorplans 6 to 8. Your vehicle's braked towing capacity needs to cover the ATM of the floorplan you choose. Ask Legend for the tare and ball weight of the floorplan you choose, and check the ball weight against your towball limit.
How to buy
Legend's showroom is at 2 Florey Court, Somerton, in Melbourne. It also lists dealers in Victoria, Western Australia, New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland. Legend says "All Legend Caravans are made and manufactured in Australia with the latest technology and machinery that help us produce a great product."
