About the Starcraft Pop Top
The Jayco Starcraft Pop Top is a pop-top caravan in three floor plans from 13 to 17 feet, with a tare from 1,501kg. The 13 and 16 foot plans sleep two adults, and the 17 foot plan adds bunks. A 210 amp hour lithium battery, a 200 watt solar panel and a reverse-cycle air conditioner are standard.
Who does it sleep?
- 13ft-4: two adults.
- 16ft-5: two adults.
- 17ft-3: two adults and two children in bunks.
The queen island bed has a Slumberrest innerspring mattress, and the bunks have high-density foam mattresses. With the roof raised there is 2.12 metres of headroom inside.
Kitchen and bathroom
The kitchen has a four-burner cooktop with a griller, a microwave, a rangehood and a 150 litre 12 volt fridge-freezer. The bathroom has a shower with an exhaust fan. Hot water is on-demand gas.
Power
- Battery: a 210 amp hour lithium battery under the chassis.
- Solar: a 200 watt twin-cell panel, plus an Anderson plug on the offside for solar input.
- Charging: a 35 amp mains charger, 30 amp solar charging, a 30 amp DC-DC charger and Bluetooth monitoring.
- Control: a 4-inch touch screen shows the battery and water levels.
Water and gas
- Fresh water: two 80 litre tanks, 160 litres in total.
- Gas: two 9kg bottles, with a gas bayonet for cooking outside.
Build
The chassis is hot dipped galvanised, with an extended A-frame and a 50mm ball coupling. The walls use insulated fibreglass on Jayco's Toughframe, which Jayco describes as hail and dent resistant. The roof is a one-piece hail-resistant skin with insulation, and the tent section is one-piece heavy-duty vinyl. It sits on 15 inch alloy wheels with a spare. A manual roll-out awning, a picnic table and a tunnel boot with access from both sides are standard. Electric brakes, Sway Command stability control and a wireless reversing camera are standard.

What will tow it?
Tare is the van's empty weight as built. Towball weight is how much of the van presses down on your car's towbar. Jayco says its weights are a guide and change with the accessories fitted. Ask the dealer for the ATM (aggregate trailer mass) of the exact van on your quote. Your car's braked towing capacity needs to cover that figure.
Warranty and where to buy
Jayco builds its vans in Australia. The warranty is two years on manufacturing and five years on the structure. You buy through a Jayco dealer. Jayco's online Build and Price tool shows the price as you choose a layout and options. The original owner of a new Jayco gets Jayco Assist, a 24/7 support program.
