About the Scout-X
The Scout-X is Stoney Creek's entry-level off-road hybrid, with hard composite walls throughout. It sleeps three as standard, and Stoney Creek offers a fourth berth with an extra bunk.
Tare is 1,410kg against a 1,850kg ATM, a 440kg payload margin. Ball weight sits at about 150kg at tare. That margin fits water, gear and camp supplies for a small family.
A queen bed and a bunk bed cover the standard three berths, with a fourth bunk optional. The pull-out kitchen runs a 3-burner gas cooktop over a stainless sink with a hot and cold mixer. An external hot and cold shower washes down after a day on the tracks. Add an ensuite tent as an option if you want an enclosed shower and toilet space.
A 230Ah lithium battery comes standard, fed by 300W of roof solar. A 2000W Renogy sine wave inverter runs appliances off grid.
Two 50 litre poly tanks hold 100 litres of fresh water between them. Composite panelling insulates the cabin year-round.
A hot-dip galvanised 4 inch by 2 inch frame rides on independent trailing arm suspension with twin shocks. Mud terrain tyres sit behind a Cruisemaster DO35 coupling, with 12 inch electric brakes. Marine-grade vinyl lines the cabin for easy cleaning after a muddy trip.
A 270 degree batwing awning and a fridge storage slide come standard. LED lighting and a control panel round out the fit-out.
The Scout-X is the entry point into the Scout hybrid line. Buy it through any of the six Stoney Creek branches around the country. The standard warranty gives 12 months on materials and workmanship, 5 years on the chassis.

Dealers that carry Stoney Creek Campers, from the brand's own list. Stock moves all the time, so call before you drive out.
When you call, ask:
- Have you got the Stoney Creek Campers Scout-X in the yard now, or is it on order?
- Can I come and walk through it this week?
- What's your best drive-away price on it?
- Is it the same build I compared, with matching layout, weights and features?
3When you get there, check
- The compliance plate - check the tare and ATM against the specs you compared here. The plate carries the legal numbers.
Where the plate is and how to read it - Water damage - soft spots in the floor, stains on the walls, or a musty smell in the cupboards.
How to spot water damage - That everything works - lights, water pump, fridge, gas, and the brakes and hitch.
The full inspection checklist, system by system - Sort your finance before you hand over a deposit, so you are never committed to a van you cannot finance.

Delivery and freight
If there's no dealer in your state, most brands deliver Australia-wide. You can also collect from the factory. Interstate freight is a real cost, often a few thousand dollars, and it climbs with distance, so factor it in before you commit.
