Akuna

The Trakka Akuna is a van motorhome for two on the Volkswagen Crafter, 5.99 or 6.84 metres long. Every layout has long north-south single beds that make a double, and an inside toilet and shower room. It has 48 volt lithium power, 800 watts of solar and a 140 litre fresh water tank, in front or all wheel drive.

Who does it sleep?

Every layout sleeps two, and the front seats swivel.

• A2M: mid wheelbase, two seats, 5.99 metres long. Singles are 1.85 by 0.7 metres.
• A2: long wheelbase, two seats, 6.84 metres long. Singles are 2.0 by 0.7 metres.
• A4: long wheelbase, four seats, 6.84 metres long. Singles are 1.85 by 0.7 metres.
• Double: the singles make a 1.73 metre wide double.

Inside

• Bathroom: a toilet and shower room with a rain shower head, a handheld shower, a basin and an extraction fan.
• Bathroom size: 83 by 70cm in the A2M, 1,105 by 700mm in the A2 and 85 by 70cm in the A4.
• Cooking: a dual induction cooktop that also works outside.
• Microwave: a 31 litre, 1,000 watt convection microwave with grill and steam functions.
• Fridge: a 150 litre fridge and freezer on the mid wheelbase, 170 litres on the long wheelbase.
• Kitchen: a sink with a lid, a drinking water filter and soft-close drawers.
• Windows: double glazed, with insect screens and blinds.
• Insulation: foam insulation and acoustic panels in the walls, ceiling and doors.

Outside

• Awning: a roll-out awning on the side.
• Lighting: a 26 inch LED flood light.
• Portable solar: an Anderson plug for a portable panel.
• Insect screens: on the sliding side door and the rear door.

Power and water

• Battery: a 5.12kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, equal to 400 amp hours at 12 volts. A 10.24kWh battery is an option.
• Inverter: 4,000 watts continuous at 240 volts.
• Solar: 800 watts on the roof, with a 1,600 watt option.
• Fresh water: a 140 litre tank.
• Grey water: an 80 litre tank with an electronic dump valve.

Driving and specs

• Base vehicle: Volkswagen Crafter, mid or long wheelbase, front wheel drive or 4Motion all wheel drive.
• Engine: a 2 litre bi-turbo diesel, 130kW and 410Nm, with an 8-speed automatic.
• GVM (gross vehicle mass): 3,880kg for the A2M and 4,000kg for the A2 and A4, the most each can weigh on the road.
• Tare: 3,015kg for the A2M and 3,177kg for the A2, or 3,142kg and 3,304kg with 4Motion.
• Payload: 696kg to 865kg for people and gear, depending on the layout.
• Towing: up to 2,500kg braked.

Trakka sells direct from its showroom at 9 Beaumont Road, Mt Kuring-Gai, NSW. Trakka recommends booking an appointment, and interstate buyers can ask for a video tour. Prices start at $196,700 for the A2M, excluding on-road costs. The A2 is $205,200, and the 4Motion versions run from $208,200 to $220,000, also excluding on-road costs.
