About the Tardis HR
The SUV Caravans Tardis HR is a 6.75 metre hard-roof family caravan that sleeps four, on a queen bed and two bunks. It is the full-shell version of the Tardis pop-top, with a separate shower room and toilet room inside. SUV Caravans says it built the van for families and for off-grid travel.
Who does it sleep?
It has a queen bed and two bunks. The top bunk is 800 x 2,000mm and the bottom bunk is 1,000 x 2,000mm. SUV Caravans says the bunks suit kids and adults alike.
Inside
- Bathroom: an internal ensuite with separate toilet and shower rooms.
- Kitchenette: an induction cooktop, a microwave and a sink.
- Air-con: roof-mounted reverse-cycle air conditioning.
- Walls: XPS high-density foam.
- Windows: privacy windows with midge-proof fly screens.
- Sound: a Bluetooth stereo with internal speakers.
Outdoor kitchen and camp
Outside, the kitchen has a four-burner gas stove, a fridge slide, pantry drawers and cupboards. A full-length electric roll-out awning is standard. External storage compartments, a generator slide and a pole box hold the gear. You also get an electric fold-down step, a reverse camera and external LED lights that switch between yellow and white.
Chassis and running gear

- Engineering: locally engineered and certified chassis, drawbar and suspension, SUV Caravans says.
- Suspension: Series 4 independent, with twin shocks and heavy-duty springs.

- Brakes: 12 inch electric brakes with a breakaway system.
- Hitch: an Alko hitch to suit a 50mm ball.
- Recovery: two rear recovery points.
Power and water
- Solar: 750 watts of panels on the roof.
- Batteries: 600 amp hours of lithium batteries.
- Inverter: a Renogy 3000 watt inverter.
- Charging: a Renogy dual-input 30 amp DC-DC charger with a 50 amp solar charge controller, plus a 30 amp smart charger.
- Outlets: 12 volt and USB, inside and out.
- Water: two fresh tanks of about 180 litres in total, and a grey tank of about 70 litres, both monitored.
- Gas: two gas bottle holders and gas hot water.

- GTM (gross trailer mass): 2,790kg, the most it can weigh on its axles.
SUV Caravans lists these weights as approximate. To tow it fully loaded, your vehicle needs a braked towing capacity of at least 3,000kg.
Warranty and where to buy
A new Tardis HR carries a 12-month warranty from delivery on defects in material and workmanship. From 2025 onwards, the chassis also has a 5-year fatigue warranty. Both cover new units only and are non-transferable. SUV Caravans has showrooms in Caboolture, Cairns, Coffs Harbour, Rockhampton and Townsville. It recommends pickup from the showroom for a full handover, and freight delivery is available on request.
