ST7 Supertourer

The Patriot Campers ST7 Supertourer is a 6.8 metre dual-axle off-road camper trailer that sleeps three as standard and up to five, priced from $218,900. It is Patriot's first dual-axle trailer, built on the Gold Coast in Queensland. It carries 920 amp-hours of lithium batteries, 1,200 watts of solar and a 3,000 watt inverter.

Who does it sleep?

• Standard: three, on a queen-size pocket spring bed and a cafe bed.
• Extended: up to five, with a forward bunk that folds from the ceiling and an overhead cafe bunk.
• Main bed: 2,030 by 1,520 millimetres.
• Cafe bed: 1,535 by 670 millimetres.
• Bunks: 1,575 by 670 millimetres each.

Inside

The cabin has a basin with quality tapware and an upright fridge. A Garmin touchscreen controls the batteries, solar, lights, climate, airbags, water levels and automatic setup and pack-down. A second 7 inch screen detaches for use in your tow vehicle, and another 7 inch screen sits at the rear. An automatic 5 metre awning extends past the kitchen slide.

Storage and laundry

The wide front box, which Patriot calls the man cave, holds the diesel and hydraulic brake reservoirs, with room left for gear. It can also take an optional 3kg front-loading washing machine/dryer, fed from the 300 litre water tanks. The power, plumbing and air systems sit behind two service doors. Patriot targets 2,600 litres of storage.

Power and water

• Batteries: 920 amp-hours of lithium in a Victron system.
• Solar: 1,200 watts on the roof.
• Inverter: 3,000 watts.
• Fresh water: two 150 litre tanks, 300 litres in total.
• Grey water: a 50 litre tank.

Chassis and off-road gear

• Suspension: Trinamic, Patriot's independent design, on both axles.
• Wheels: 17 inch, with 35 inch tyres and a matching spare.
• Departure angle: 20 degrees.
• Warranty: five years, limited, on the chassis and structural components of every Patriot camper.

Optional extras

Patriot says options change the final cost.

• Laundry: a 3kg front-loading washing machine/dryer.
• Outdoors: a BBQ swing-away with a Weber Q1000 on the front box.
• Sleeping: extended options add a forward bunk and an overhead cafe bunk.

How big is it?

• Length: 6.8 metres.
• Width: 2.2 metres.
• Height: 2.3 metres for travel, and 2.9 metres set up.

What will tow it?

Patriot lists the tare, payload and ball weight as target figures for the ST7.

• ATM (aggregate trailer mass): 3,500kg, the most it can weigh fully loaded.
• Tare: 2,700kg target, its empty weight as built.
• Payload: 1,000kg target, for water and gear. Full fresh water tanks use about 300kg of it.
• Ball weight: 200kg target, which Patriot calls drawbar weight.

To tow it fully loaded, your vehicle needs a braked towing capacity of 3,500kg.
