Winton 17R Twin MK2

The Winton 17R Twin MK2 is a hard-top on-road caravan that sleeps two on split single beds. It suits a couple touring sealed roads who prefer separate beds and want a full ensuite.

It has a tare from 1,846kg and a 2,500kg ATM (aggregate trailer mass), which leaves about 654kg for water, gas and gear. Filling both fresh tanks uses 200kg of it, so weigh the van loaded. Ball weight starts at 143kg, and you need a car rated to tow 2,500kg braked.

The split single beds measure 2,000mm by 800mm each, with a shared bedside cabinet and a tallboy. A folding cafe lounge measures 2,010mm by 680mm and hides drawers underneath. The kitchen has an induction cooktop, a sink with a mixer tap, a flatbed microwave and a Dometic 152L upright fridge-freezer. A self-contained ensuite holds a separate shower and toilet.

It is a 12 volt system. Ezytrail fits a 235Ah lithium battery, a 340W antishading solar array and a 50A AC, DC and MPPT charger. The battery sits in a through-floor enclosure, and a 240V switchboard with a residual current device handles mains power.

Water is a 120L and an 80L fresh tank plus an 80L grey tank, so you carry 200 litres of drinking water. A CAM-LOK quick connect empties the grey tank. A gas system heats the water on demand. A MyCoolman CCA2700i air conditioner, a 24 inch smart TV and four wireless charging pads are standard.

Ezytrail builds the walls and roof around an XPS foam core. The chassis and drawbar use galvanised RHS steel, which the maker certifies F3 and warrants for five years. It rides on an independent torsion axle with electric brakes and 235/75 R15 all-terrain tyres. An eight inch swing-up jockey wheel and four stabiliser legs set it up on site.

The van measures 6.6m long, 2.45m wide and 2.89m tall on the road. A roll-out awning, a Starlink connection point and an external lockable water filler come with it.

Ezytrail runs eleven showrooms, and you collect from whichever one suits you. Transport to it is a flat $1,000, and the from-price excludes dealer delivery and on-road costs. Ezytrail warrants structure and materials for 12 months from first ownership.
