VZ4800 HR Twin Next Gen

The VZ4800 HR Twin Next Gen is a hard-top off-road hybrid that sleeps two on a king bed, or three with the sofa made up. It suits a couple who cook outside and want a separate shower and toilet inside.

It has a 2,360kg tare and a 3,000kg ATM (aggregate trailer mass), which leaves 640kg for water, gas and gear. Filling both fresh tanks uses 240kg of it, so weigh the van loaded. Ball weight is 160kg, and you need a car rated to tow 3,000kg braked.

The king master bed measures 2,000mm by 1,800mm and the sofa bed 1,860mm by 770mm. Cafe-style seating faces the kitchen. Inside is a 2,200W induction cooktop, a rangehood, an overhead microwave and a Dometic NRX1080 fridge. A bathroom mirror cabinet adds his-and-hers storage above the basin.

Outside, a stainless steel slide-out kitchen carries a four-burner LPG cooktop, a sink on permanent hot and cold plumbing, wind deflectors and a dish rack. A rear utility bar holds the spare wheel, jerry can holders and a firewood box.

Power runs at 12 volts. Ezytrail fits 600W of roof solar, a 705Ah lithium battery bank and a Renogy Pro 2000W inverter charger with an 80A output. A Renogy Vision touchscreen, a One Core hub, a 300A smart shunt and a 50A DC-DC MPPT combo charger run the system. Water is two 120L fresh tanks and a 120L grey tank, so you carry 240 litres of drinking water.

Hot water is instantaneous gas. A MyCoolman CCA2700 air conditioner and a 2kW Aufocus diesel heater cover both ends of the year. A 24 inch smart TV, a 12V electric cassette awning and a 12V entry step are standard.

Ezytrail builds the van on a galvanised RHS chassis with an alloy frame and XPS vacuum sandwich panel walls. The maker certifies that chassis F5 and warrants it for life. It rides on Ezyrider V2 independent suspension with four Pedders foam cell shocks. Brakes are a Bigfoot V2 12 inch system, on 16 inch alloys with rough-terrain tyres. Rock slider bars protect the sides, and an Alko 3,500kg off-road ball hitch connects it to the car.

The van measures 7.1m long, 2.41m wide and 3.15m tall on the road. Ezytrail sells through eleven of its own showrooms in Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia and Western Australia. You collect from the one you choose for a flat $1,000 freight fee, and the from-price excludes dealer delivery and on-road costs. Ezytrail warrants the caravan's structure for 12 months to the first owner, separately from the lifetime chassis cover.
