Parkes 15 Quad MK4

The Parkes 15 Quad MK4 is a pop-top off-road hybrid that sleeps four on a 15 foot body. It suits a family who want a low travelling height and the largest solar array Ezytrail fits.

It has a 2,470kg tare and a 3,000kg ATM (aggregate trailer mass), which leaves 530kg for water, gas and gear. Four people and full tanks will use most of that, so weigh the van loaded. Ball weight is 219kg, and you need a car rated to tow 3,000kg braked.

The king master bed slides out on an electric system tied to the van's smart controls. A double bunk of 2,000mm by 1,000mm takes two children, with four soft-close drawers underneath. The ensuite is a moulded shower room with a chemical toilet. The kitchen has a dual induction cooktop, a sink with a tempered glass lid and a dual-zone fridge slide.

Ezytrail wires this one at 24 volts. Ezytrail fits a 1,190W back-contact solar array with anti-shading panels and two 24V 235Ah lithium batteries. The maker rates that bank at 12kWh, or 940Ah at 12 volts. A Victron Multiplus-2 3,000VA inverter, a Renogy 40A MPPT controller and a Renogy 720W DC-DC charger run the system.

Two 120L fresh tanks hold 240 litres of drinking water, and an 80L tank takes the grey. Gas heats the water on demand, and an external shower box sits outside. A MyCoolman CCA3000 handles the heat and a 2kW diesel heater handles the cold.

The electric pop-top raises at the press of a button and keeps travelling height to 2.77m. The chassis is one-piece hot-dip galvanised steel with a gooseneck drawbar, F5 certified and warranted for life. It rides on Ezyrider V3 coil independent suspension with an anti-roll bar and four Pedders Big Bore shocks. Bigfoot V3 12 inch off-road brakes, 16 inch alloys and a 3,500kg off-road hitch complete the running gear. The van measures 6.93m long and 2.4m wide.

Standard kit covers an Ezy-Lite annex room, an external ensuite room, an anti-flap kit, four wireless charging pads and a 24 inch smart TV. Ezytrail warrants the caravan's structure for 12 months to the first owner, separately from the chassis.
