About the Airlie 21 Quad
The Airlie 21 Quad is a hard-top off-road caravan that sleeps four on a queen island bed and two bunks. It suits a family of four who want a washing machine and a separate shower and toilet.
It has a 2,786kg tare and a 3,500kg ATM (aggregate trailer mass), which leaves 714kg for water, gas and gear. Filling both fresh tanks uses 240kg of it, so weigh the van loaded. Ball weight is 224kg, and you need a car rated to tow 3,500kg braked.
The queen island bed measures 1,570mm by 2,050mm and extends for extra legroom. Each bunk runs 1,800mm by 700mm. The kitchen has a four-burner cooktop and grill combo, an overhead microwave, a 12V rangehood and a Thetford T2208 224L fridge-freezer. A top-loading washing machine sits inside, and a Truma Ultrarapid gas and electric system heats the water.
The electrical system runs at 12 volts. Ezytrail fits 400W of roof solar, two 120Ah lithium batteries and a Renogy 2000W inverter charger with a 65A output. Fresh water is 240 litres across two tanks, and grey water goes to an 80L tank.
The $5,000 Extenda Pack lifts the battery bank to 470Ah and the solar to 600W. It also wires the air conditioner to the inverter and adds a 2kW diesel heater with a bluetooth controller. A MyCoolman CCA3000 air conditioner, a 28 inch smart TV and a roll-out barrel awning are standard.
Ezytrail builds the van on a fully galvanised chassis with an Alko 3,500kg off-road ball hitch. The maker gives it a dual axle for stability, eight Pedders Nitro gas shocks and a dual Bigfoot V2 12 inch brake system. Suspension is Ezyrider V2 independent, with an ARK XO-750 jockey wheel and a rear bumper bar carrying two 20L jerry can holders. The van measures 8.42m long, 2.4m wide and 3.06m tall on the road.
Ezytrail hands the van over at one of its eleven showrooms rather than at your address. A flat $1,000 freight fee covers transport there, and the from-price excludes dealer delivery and on-road costs. You collect the van at that showroom, and a 10 per cent deposit holds the current price. Ezytrail covers the structure for 12 months from first ownership.
