About the Getaway
The Design RV Getaway is an entry-level touring caravan built in Pakenham, Victoria, in couples and family floor plans. It rides on leaf springs and comes with lithium power, solar and a compressor fridge. Couples layouts include a washing machine.

Design RV lists 12 floor plans for this model.
- Couples: nine layouts from 17 feet 4 inches to 22 feet 10 inches.
- Family: three layouts with bunks, at 20 feet 6 inches, 21 feet 10 inches and 22 feet 6 inches.
- Seating: a cafe dinette or an L-shaped lounge, depending on the layout.
Power
- Battery: one 300 amp hour lithium battery.
- Solar: two 220 watt panels.
Kitchen, bathroom and comfort
- Cooking: three gas burners and one electric hotplate, with a griller.
- Bathroom: a one-piece fibreglass shower and a ceramic bowl cassette toilet.
- Climate: a rooftop reverse cycle air conditioner.
- Bed: an innerspring mattress.
- Fridge: a 170 litre Freucamp compressor fridge.
- Microwave: 25 litres.
- TV: a 24 inch TV with a DVD player.
- Laundry: a washing machine in every two-berth layout.
Water and outdoors
- Fresh water: two 95 litre tanks.
- Picnic table: a drop-down table on the outside wall.
- Awning: an Aussie Traveller manual roll-out awning.
- Reversing camera: standard.
Build
- Frame: Meranti timber side and rear wall framing.
- Chassis: a Supagal heavy-duty chassis, which Design RV says is Australian made.
- Suspension: leaf springs.
- Wheels: 15 inch alloys with 205/70 R15 light truck tyres.
