Ceduna 16R Twin MK4

The Ceduna 16R Twin MK4 is a hard-top off-road hybrid that sleeps two on a queen bed. It suits a couple who want a full internal ensuite and a van that leaves the bitumen.

It has a 2,440kg tare and a 3,000kg ATM (aggregate trailer mass), which leaves 560kg for water, gas and gear. Filling both fresh tanks uses 240kg of it, so weigh the van loaded. Ball weight is 204kg, and you need a car rated to tow 3,000kg braked.

The queen master bed measures 2,000mm by 1,530mm. A self-contained ensuite holds the shower and a Thetford cassette toilet, with a zippable wall extension. The kitchen has a dual induction cooktop, an overhead NCE flatbed microwave and a Dometic 153L fridge-freezer. Outside, a slide-out kitchen carries a sink, a hot and cold mixer tap and a three-burner cooktop.

Ezytrail wires this one at 24 volts. Ezytrail fits two 24V 235Ah lithium batteries and a Victron Multiplus-2 3,000VA inverter with a 70A charger. The maker rates that bank at 12kWh, or 940Ah at 12 volts. A 1,020W antishading solar array, a Victron SmartSolar 100/50 controller and a Cerbo GX monitor run the charging.

You carry 240 litres of fresh water in two 120L tanks, with an 80L grey tank under the van. An Ezyfill pressurised filling system with a lockable filler point handles refills. A gas system heats the water on demand. A MyCoolman CCA3000 air conditioner and a 2kW Aufocus diesel heater cover both ends of the year.

Ezytrail builds the van on a one-piece hot-dip galvanised chassis with an extended gooseneck drawbar. The maker certifies that chassis F5 and warrants it for life. It rides on Ezyrider V3 coil independent suspension with locking adjusters, an anti-roll bar and four Pedders Big Bore shocks. Bigfoot V3 12 inch brakes, 16 inch alloys on mud-terrain tyres and a 3,500kg off-road hitch complete the running gear.

PET vacuum sandwich panels form the walls, roof and floor. The van measures 7.32m long, 2.4m wide and 3.1m tall on the road. A 24 inch smart TV, a wifi reverse camera and a heavy-duty three-arm electric awning are standard.

Ezytrail runs eleven showrooms, and you collect from whichever one suits you. Transport to it is a flat $1,000, and the from-price excludes dealer delivery and on-road costs. You collect the van at that showroom, and a 10 per cent deposit holds the current price. Ezytrail warrants structure and materials for 12 months from first ownership.
