Peregrine

The Zone RV Peregrine is a 19ft Australian-made off-road caravan for couples, with a queen bed, a full ensuite and indoor and outdoor kitchens. Overall it is 8.2m long, 2.5m wide and 3.1m high, with 2m of internal headroom. Zone RV publishes a starting weight of about 2,723kg and a starting ball weight of about 180kg for the Pioneer spec. Options and full water tanks add weight, and the maker lists each option's kilograms in its configurator.

The lounge comes as a chaise or a cafe, each with an optional bed insert. The queen bed lifts on gas struts over a storage area. Twin bedside robes, overhead lockers and foot lockers are standard. The Thetford fridge-freezer is 274L, split 202L fridge and 72L freezer, on 12V. The kitchen has a synthetic stone benchtop, a large under-mounted sink and a dual slide-out bin. A Safiery portable dual induction cooktop works inside or out. The outdoor kitchen has a collapsible sink, storage for the induction cooktop and a TV bracket, with a serving window on the awning side. The ensuite has a shower cubicle, a vanity basin and an electric OGO composting toilet. Cabinetry is Zone RV's timberless composite with alloy plating and positive-locking latches, and a 32-inch TV and a 15ft awning are standard. A 2.5kg washing machine, a diesel air heater, a microwave and an air conditioner are options.

The chassis is hot-dip galvanised with underslung mud flaps, and the toolbox is Zone RV's own composite with about 1,100L of volume. Suspension is Cruisemaster ATX with disc brakes on 17-inch wheels and 265/70 R17 tyres, with Cruisemaster ATX Unleashed and BCS self-levelling as options. The Cruisemaster DO45 hitch is rated to 4,000kg. Double-glazed tinted windows with block-out blinds, a security-mesh entry door and marine-style hatches are fitted. A WiTi anti-theft system with GPS sounds an alarm and applies the brakes if the van is moved. A Carbon Ultralight option takes about 200kg out of the van.

Power is a REDARC 400Ah lithium bank with 720W of REDARC solar, a REDARC 3,000W inverter and a Manager Alpha 100 charger. Battery options run to 800Ah and solar to 1,240W. Water is three poly tanks totalling 240L, each isolated and filled separately, under aluminium armour, with gauges on the RedVision display and an in-line filter. The grey tank holds 100L with a bypass. Hot water is a Webasto Thermo Top Evo 5 diesel system through a buffer tank and heat exchanger.

Zone RV sells through its online configurator and dealers, with delivery to the Sunshine Coast, Sydney, Melbourne or Perth. Sunshine Coast delivery includes a three-day handover at a private campsite near the factory, where the team runs you through the van's systems.
