About the Island 19.6
The Island 19.6 is a 7.6 metre caravan that sleeps two or three, and SUV Caravans calls it the largest couples' caravan in its range. It has an island queen bed, a separate shower and toilet, and a choice of lounge layouts. The cafe lounge converts into an extra bed when you need one.

Lounge layouts
SUV Caravans describes three lounge options: an L-shaped lounge, a club lounge or a cafe-style lounge. Its inclusions list names cafe seating or L-shaped seating.
Inside
The ensuite has a separate toilet and shower cubicle, plus a wall-mounted washing machine. An inside kitchenette has an induction cooktop, a sink, a microwave and a rangehood. Food keeps in a 157 litre upright fridge freezer and a fridge drawer. Roof-mounted air conditioning and 12 volt fans are standard.
Outdoor kitchen
The outside kitchen swings out 90 degrees, with a four-burner gas stove and a wind guard. A pantry slide suits a 95 litre Trakmate fridge freezer. A full-length electric roll-out awning covers the area.
Chassis and running gear
- Chassis: fully galvanised, with galvanised suspension arms, approved by an Australian engineer.
- Suspension: SUV's Series 4 Recovery Suspension with twin shocks and heavy-duty springs.
- Wheels: 17 inch alloys with 265/70R17 all-terrain tyres, and a spare underneath.
- Brakes: 12 inch electric brakes with a breakaway system.
- Body: XPS high-density foam walls on a honeycomb floor.
- Storage: external compartments and a generator slide.

- Batteries: 628 amp hours of lithium batteries.
- Solar: 950 watts of roof-mounted panels.
- Inverter: a 3000 watt Renogy Rego with a 150 amp mains charger.
- Charging: a 50 amp DC-DC charger, and 50 amp and 60 amp solar charge controllers.
- Fresh water: two tanks, about 200 litres in total, plus a mains water connection.
- Grey water: a 70 litre tank.
- Gas and hot water: two gas bottle holders and an integrated gas hot water system.

- TV: a 12 volt smart TV.
- Fridge: a 95 litre Trakmate fridge freezer for the pantry slide.
- Annexe: an enclosable annexe with a floor, walls, skirt and anti-flapper kit.
- Toilet: a composting toilet.
What will tow it?
- ATM (aggregate trailer mass): 3,500kg, the most it can weigh fully loaded.
- Tare: 3,000kg, its empty weight as built.
- GTM (gross trailer mass): 3,330kg, the most its axles can carry when hitched.
- Payload: 500kg for water, gas and gear. Full water tanks use about 200kg of it.
To tow it fully loaded, your vehicle needs a braked towing capacity of at least 3,500kg. SUV Caravans lists its weights as approximate.
