About the Neptune
The Neptune is a single-axle caravan 5.8 metres long, with a full ensuite and a choice of a double bed or twin single beds. Its aggregate trailer mass (ATM) is 1,600kg. It carries a 120 amp hour AGM battery, 200 watts of solar and a 100 litre water tank.
Layouts
- 402D: a permanent double bed with a dinette.
- 402S: twin single beds, each 1,880 by 800mm, with a 500mm walkway between them.
- 452D: a north-south island double bed, in a longer and heavier body. Its figures are under "How big is it?".
Inside
- Ensuite: a separate shower and a Thetford swivel-head electric-flush cassette toilet, under a roof hatch.
- Roof hatch: LED lights and a 12 volt fan that also extracts.
- Windows: four insulated double-glazed windows with flyscreens and sunshades.
- Door: a triple-lock security door with a flyscreen.
- TV: a 12 volt smart TV with a DVD player on a triple-arm bracket, and a wind-up antenna.
- Fitout: your choice of vinyl flooring, cabinetry colour, laminate benchtop and upholstery.
Kitchen
- Cooking: a two-burner gas cooktop and an under-bench microwave.
- Sink: stainless steel, with a glass lid.
- Fridge: a Dometic 200 litre 12 and 240 volt fridge-freezer.
Power
- Battery: a 120 amp hour AGM deep-cycle battery with a 240 volt charger.
- Solar: a 200 watt roof-mounted panel with a 30 amp MPPT regulator.
- Outlets: four 240 volt power points inside, a 10 amp outlet under the awning, and a 12 volt socket with twin USB.
- Mains: a 15 amp 240 volt inlet.
Water, gas and outside
- Water: a 100 litre food-grade tank, with a digital level gauge and a lockable external filler.
- Hot water: gas or 240 volt, with electric ignition.
- Gas: a 9kg bottle in a lockable galvanised cradle.
- Storage: tunnel storage with two lockable access hatches.
- Awning: a 3 metre wind-out awning.
Build
- Body: one-piece fibreglass composite panels, which Silversun says are Australian made from German raw materials.
- Chassis: a single axle chassis in Australian RHS galvanised steel.
- Wheels: 14-inch load-rated alloy rims and tyres, with a spare, under welded galvanised steel wheel arches.
- Coupling: an AL-KO 3.5 tonne 50mm coupling with two heavy-duty chains.
- Brakes: electric brakes with a handbrake.
- Running gear: Galvanised stabiliser legs, a heavy-duty jockey wheel and a checker plate safety guard.
- Suspension: Silversun offers AL-KO and Cruisemaster suspension to order.
How big is it?
- Length: 5.8 metres from coupling to spare wheel.
- Height: 2.65 metres.
- Width: 2.27 metres including the awning.
- Inside: 3.9 metres long, 2.1 metres wide and 1.95 metres high.
- 452D island bed: 6.33 metres long and 2.7 metres high, with a 4.44 metre interior.
What will tow it?
- ATM (aggregate trailer mass): 1,600kg, the most it can weigh fully loaded.
- GTM (gross trailer mass): 1,555kg, the most its axle can carry.
- Ball weight: 50kg, empty.
- 452D island bed: 1,900kg ATM, 1,845kg GTM and a 60kg ball weight.
To tow it fully loaded, your vehicle needs a braked towing capacity of at least 1,600kg. Silversun can raise the ATM on request, and options change the weights.
How to buy
Silversun sells factory-direct from Meadowbrook in Queensland, and has virtual tours of its models on its website. Silversun says: "All our caravans are Australian made to order and are fully customisable with a full range of optional extras available". Silversun says its caravans comply with Vehicle Standards Bulletin 1 (VSB1) and Australian Design Rule 62.
