X-Series Surge Family Pod Camper

The Austrack X-Series Surge is a fibreglass pod camper, and it sleeps up to six. It has a double bed, twin single bunks, a stainless steel slide-out kitchen and a diesel heater. It weighs about 2,250kg empty and measures 6.2 metres long and 2.25 metres wide.

Kitchen and camp

The kitchen slides out with a two-burner gas cooktop, a stainless steel sink and a hot and cold tap. A portable hot water unit, included, feeds the hot side. A 95 litre dual-zone fridge-freezer sits on a slide with its own power supply. A fold-down serving bench has its own light. A batwing awning wraps around the side, and roof cargo rails, a stereo and a smart TV come included. A large toolbox and a heavy duty mesh stone guard sit on the front.

Chassis and build

• Body: fibreglass, with a heavy duty coating on the lower body.
• Chassis: a hot-dip galvanised drawbar and chassis.
• Suspension: off-road independent, with heavy duty coil springs and shock absorbers.
• Brakes: 12 inch electric, with a manual handbrake.
• Wheels: 16 inch mud terrain tyres on alloy rims, with one spare.
• Coupling: a DO35 hitch with a receiver coupling.
• Legs: four lockable, adjustable drop-down stabiliser legs.

Power and water

• Battery: a 120 amp hour lithium battery.
• Management: a REDARC battery management system with a solar regulator, charging and Bluetooth control.
• Inverter: a 3,000 watt sine wave unit, with an AC charger.
• Sockets: 240 volt power points, and 12 volt sockets with dedicated fridge sockets.
• Car connection: a 7-pin flat or round plug, and two 50 amp Anderson plugs.
• Water: two 65 litre fresh water tanks, 130 litres in all.
• Gas and fuel: two 9kg gas bottle holders and two 20 litre jerry can holders.

It comes in white or charcoal.
