About the Hunter
The Silver Valley Hunter is an 18ft 6in centre-door luxury touring caravan for couples, with a queen bed and a full ensuite.
The bed has a queen pillowtop mattress, and the lounge has storage underneath. The ensuite has a fibreglass shower with glass doors, a ceramic basin, a Dometic ceramic-bowl toilet and a 3kg top-loading washing machine. The kitchen has a full oven, a 25L microwave and a Thetford 184L three-way fridge. The stainless steel sink sits in postform benchtops with a recessed lid over the stove. A reverse-cycle air conditioner, a 22-inch LED TV, a CD and DVD radio with inside and outside speakers, and LED downlights throughout are standard. Outside are a full-width tunnel boot, a picnic table and an Aussie Traveller awning.
The chassis has a 4in main frame, a 6in A-frame to the suspension and a 2in riser, with mesh on the A-frame. It runs 205/70 R15 tyres, 10-inch electric brakes, a ball coupling, four drop-down stabiliser legs and a spare wheel on the bumper. The body is white aluminium cladding with checkerplate sides and wheel spats, and a composite finish is available on every model. Double-glazed windows, a tri-lock entry door, electronic stability control and a breakaway switch are fitted.
Power is a 150W solar panel and a 100Ah battery with a charger, with 12V and 240V points at the dinette. Water is two 95L tanks with a 12V pump, lockable fillers, a tap on the frame and a mains pressure inlet. Hot water is a Swift gas and electric system, and two 9kg gas bottles sit up front with a gas bayonet.
Silver Valley sells through dealers in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Western Australia, and from its factory in Craigieburn, Victoria. Other exterior and interior colours are available at extra cost.

- Can I come and walk through it this week?
- What's your best drive-away price on it?
- Is it the same build I compared, with matching layout, weights and features?
3When you get there, check
- The compliance plate - check the tare and ATM against the specs you compared here. The plate carries the legal numbers.
Where the plate is and how to read it - Water damage - soft spots in the floor, stains on the walls, or a musty smell in the cupboards.
How to spot water damage - That everything works - lights, water pump, fridge, gas, and the brakes and hitch.
The full inspection checklist, system by system - Sort your finance before you hand over a deposit, so you are never committed to a van you cannot finance.

Delivery and freight
If there's no dealer in your state, most brands deliver Australia-wide. You can also collect from the factory. Interstate freight is a real cost, often a few thousand dollars, and it climbs with distance, so factor it in before you commit.
