JAG Camper

The JAG Glider is an ultra-light off-road teardrop camper for couples and solo travellers, designed and built in Brisbane. It weighs 550kg tare with a 50kg ball weight, so small cars, compact SUVs and many electric vehicles can tow it. At 1.84m high it stores in a home garage. Inside is a double bed with a full-size memory foam mattress, a two-shelf clothes cupboard and an insulated cabin. A large openable sunroof and two windows carry blinds and bug screens, and a cabin fan moves the air. The doors are lockable Crimsafe security screens. The rear kitchen holds a 30L slide-out fridge, a Dometic Cadac two-burner gas cooktop, a large bench and five drawers. An overhead cupboard carries three storage crates, and the sink runs on a SeaFlow pump from the 60L water tank. The body is a composite fibreglass and XPS foam sandwich panel on a hot-dip galvanised steel chassis. The cabin is a sealed monocoque against water and dust, with marine-grade UV-coated plywood cabinetry. It rides on AL-KO independent off-road suspension with hydraulic disc brakes. The drawbar has a storage area for a box, bike racks or accessories. JAG gives a five-year warranty. Power is a 100Ah Australian-made lithium battery. It charges from a 40A DC to DC charger, a 40A 240V charger and an MPPT solar controller with a solar input. The Garmin Smart RV system runs the lights and electronics from a touch screen or phone app. The same screen shows battery, gas, water and ground level. There are 240V outlets for shore power. Two panel colours are offered, Cool Grey and Sandstorm, and a 3M automotive lower wrap adds more than 50 colour and style options. The JAG Teardrop Camper is a lightweight semi off-road teardrop for two, built in Brisbane, that stores in a home garage. Tare is 850kg, ball weight 85kg and the ATM (aggregate trailer mass) is 1,500kg, which leaves 650kg of payload. Overall it measures 4.80m long, 2.25m wide and 2.07m high, and small cars, hybrids and electric vehicles can tow it. The cabin has a queen memory foam mattress, a skylight, a rotating smart TV and an insulated composite shell. Two internally locking security mesh doors mean each person has their own way in. Storage is two large cupboards, six drawers, two shelves and a footwell, plus a 650L space under the bed that also takes the spare wheel. The rear kitchen slides out with a Thetford two-burner gas cooktop, a sink with running water and a 1600 x 600mm benchtop. A 60L upright Dometic NRX fridge, three drawers, two cupboards, a pantry and a spice cabinet sit with it. The sunroof and two windows carry flyscreens and blinds. The body is an FRP and XPS composite panel on a hot-dip galvanised 100 x 50 x 3mm steel chassis with a 3mm checkerplate underbody. Marine-grade plywood panels are sealed with a UV-proof coating and assembled with glue and screws. It rides on Cruisemaster CRS2 independent suspension with 10-inch drum brakes, an Elecbrakes controller and a key-locked anti-theft hitch. JAG gives a five-year structural warranty. Power is a 100Ah lithium battery. It charges from the car through an Anderson lead, from solar through an MPPT controller, or from shore power through a 40A charger. The Garmin EmpirBus system shows battery percentage, charge and discharge rates, water level and temperature. There are four 240V outlets, three 12V sockets, eight USB outlets and a dedicated 12V outlet for a CPAP machine. Water is an 85L poly tank with a SeaFlow pump to the sink and an external shower, and a 4kg swap gas bottle is included. The camper comes fully optioned, with two panel colours and more than 50 3M vinyl wrap choices, or a custom printed wrap. Options include an air conditioner, a 300W solar blanket, a hot water bundle and a rear camera. A caravan mover, off-road hitches and battery upgrades to 540Ah are also offered. An induction cooking package swaps the gas cooktop for induction with a 300Ah battery and a Victron inverter.
